Earlier today, our Homecoming Court, football team, and cheerleading squad visited Nancy Reynolds Elementary, Sandy Ridge Elementary, and Piney Grove Middle School to spread Viking pride and encourage the next generation of students. 🌟

Students became the voices of Columbus, his men, King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella, the Taíno natives, and even the system of empire. Each group prepared their arguments, gathered evidence, and presented their case to the “court.”
The energy in the classroom was high as students questioned one another, defended their positions, and worked hard to prove who they believed was most responsible for the tragedies of colonization.
This hands-on activity gave our students the chance to step into history, sharpen their debate skills, and see how complex history can be when multiple perspectives are considered. 📚🔥
