Thanks to a grant from the Our Communities of Northwest Stokes Foundation, Nancy Reynolds Elementary School now has a Broadcast Team. The Dragon Daily News broadcasts replace our daily announcements over the intercom. Each day there is a special feature including some motivational thoughts, encouraging words, trivia, Wednesday Wins (that celebrate successes of students and staff), and even some Friday "funnies". Students had to apply to be a part of our Broadcast Team. They also had to request a letter of reference from their teacher as well as get permission from their parents to participate. Team members record the news each day to be shared the next school day. Eventually we hope to be able to have a live broadcast. Soon, we hope to interview classmates and teachers so that we can highlight more of the awesome things we're doing in Dragon Country. We are all still learning the equipment and how to behave on camera, so please be patient with us. And enjoy the first episode of the Dragon Daily News! https://youtu.be/HjNmes0tEXg

A school resource officer (SRO) is a carefully selected, specifically trained, and properly equipped law enforcement officer with sworn authority, trained in school-based law enforcement and crisis response and assigned by an employing law enforcement agency to work collaboratively with one or more schools. We are honored and blessed to have Officer Robin Gray as the SRO for NRES! Not only does he keep us safe, but he builds relationships with students, families and staff. Our students love him! He pitches in with activities, offers high fives and hugs, and he is always aware of what is going on in our building. He's an awesome cook, too. Thank you for the work you do in Dragon Country, Officer Gray!
